Whether individuals or businesses, when asked to innovate and create,
I've often seen cases where people struggle to even begin, driven by the idea
Of overhauling everything existing. Whether it's innovation or creation,
rather than trying to create something new from scratch, we should prioritize
finding solutions by addressing the current problems and inconveniences
based on the current situation. Aren't we wasting our time trying to find
something entirely new?
개인이든 기업이든 혁신과 창조를 하라고 하면, 기존의 모든 것들을 바꾸려는
생각을 하여 일을 시작조차 못하는 경우를 많이 보았다. 혁신이든 창조든
없던것을 새롭게 만들기 보단 현재를 기준으로 문제됨과 불편함을 개선하면서
방안을 찾는 것이 선행 되어야 한다. 전혀 새로운 무언가를 찾기 위해서 지금
엉뚱한 시간을 쓰고 있는 것은 아닐까?
Russian poet Alexander Pushkin (1799–1837) remains a beloved and revered
figure among Russians. His presence radiates throughout Russia. Statues of
him abound, and streets, museums, and schools bear his name. Even vodka
and chocolate bear his name.
러시아의 시인, 알렉산드르 푸슈킨(1799~1837)은 지금도 러시아인들의 사랑과
존경을 한 몸에 받고 있다. 러시아 곳곳에 그의 숨결이 흐른다. 그의 동상과 그의
이름을 딴 거리, 박물관과 학교가 즐비하다. 심지어 보드카와 초콜릿에도
그의 이름표가 붙어 있다.
He is not only a representative brand of Russian literature, but also a brand of
The Russian nation itself. However, he is considered a genius of imitation rather
than a creative genius. His lyric poems are based on Western European
Romantic poetry. His epics also seem to imitate the English poet Byron. Even
his famous drama "Borisov" is reminiscent of Shakespeare's dramas.
그는 러시아 문학의 대표 브랜드일 뿐만 아니라 러시아 국가 자체의 브랜드
이기도 하다. 그러나 그는 창작의 천재라기보다는 모방의 천재로 평가된다.
그의 서정시들은 서유럽 낭만주의 시들을 토대로 쓰여 졌다. 그의 서사시 역시
영국의 시인, 바이런을 베낀 것처럼 보인다. 그의 유명한 드라마 “보리스
노프”마저 셰익스피어의 드라마를 연상시킨다.
It's difficult to find in him any ingenious counterpoint or profound artistic talent.
However, his greatness lies in extracting something new from the existing. His
themes, forms, and content were borrowed from other writers and ancient
authors from other countries. He gradually modified and supplemented others'
works, making them his own. His genius lay in his ability to imitate and recreate.
그에게서 기발한 역발상이나 심오한 에술성을 발견하기란 어렵다. 그렇지만 그의
위대성은 기존의 것들에서 새로운 것들을 뽑아낸 데에 있다. 그의 주제와 형식과
내용은 다른 나라의 다른 작가와 옛 작가에게서 따온 것이다. 그는 남의 것을
조금씩 변형하고 보완해 자신의 것으로 만들었다. 모방하고 재창조하는 능력이
그의 천재성이었다.
He devoured the works of world-renowned writers, from the Greek and Roman
classics to Dante, Shakespeare, Byron, Goethe, and Schiller. Pushkin devoured
the existing, eager to create something new. He also revised and reworked his
manuscripts. At first glance, his works appear to have been scribbled down in
a moment by a writer overcome by inspiration. However, it is said that he refined
even the smallest phrase dozens of times.
그는 그리스 로마의 고전에서부터 단테, 셰익스피어, 바이런, 괴테, 실러에 이르기
까지 세계적 문호들의 작품을 탐독했다. 푸슈킨은 새 것을 만들어내려고 기존의
것을 게걸스럽게 들이마셨다. 또한 자신의 원고를 고치고 또 고쳤다. 그의 작품들은
얼핏 영감에 사로잡힌 작가가 한 순간에 휘갈겨 쓴 것처럼 보이기도 한다. 하지만
그는 하찮은 문구 하나도 수십 번씩 다듬었다고 한다.
Creating something from nothing is the domain of the Creator. We imitate and
create. Imitation is a constant trend under the sun. Imitation is an essential
process of creation. However, it must be repeated, not a single act of imitation.
Just as 10,000 hours of concentration produce a master in a field, 10,000 deep
imitations will make us masters of creation.
무에서 유를 창조하는 것은 창조주의 영역이다. 우리는 모방하고 창조한다.
해 아래 모방은 늘 대세다. 모방은 창조의 필수과정이다. 그러나 단번의 모방이
아니라 반복적인 모방이어야 한다. 1만 시간의 집중이 한 분야의 대가를 만들듯
1만 번의 심층모방이 우리를 창조의 대가로 만들어 줄 것이다.
Leadership is about creating an inspiring atmosphere that encourages endless
thought. This leads to creative products, which naturally translates into increased
profits. It's said that Napoleon's successive victories were the result of his diligent
study of military history. He studied past wars and applied their findings to the
present, achieving repeated victories.
끝없이 생각하도록 감동적인 분위기를 만들어가는 게 리더십이다. 그러면
창조적인 제품이 나오게 되고 당연히 돈도 잘 벌게 된다. 나폴레옹이 연전연승한
것은 그가 (전쟁사)를 열심히 탐독한 결과라고 한다. 그는 과거의 전쟁들을 연구
해서 그 결과를 현재의 전쟁에 연결시킴으로써 승리를 거듭할 수 있었던 것이다.

Great creation begins with "imitation"! If you know how to imitate, you can
create! It's difficult to create by insisting on being the first. Imitation makes
creation easier. Imitation reduces costs and uncertainty. However, simple
replication is not enough. It must be a distinctive and creative imitation.
The same goes for success. Success isn't limited to completely new
achievements. Copying and differentiating from existing successes is also
a success.
위대한 창조는 ‘모방’에서 시작된다! 모방할 줄 안다면 창조도 할 수 있다!
최초만을 고집해서는 창조하기가 어렵다. 모방할 때, 창조가 쉬워진다.
모방하면 비용도 적게 들고 불확실성도 적다. 하지만 단순 복제는 안 된다.
차별적이고 창조적인 모방이어야 한다. 성공도 마찬가지다. 전혀 새로운
성공만이 성공인 것은 아니다. 기존의 성공을 베껴서 차별화하는
것도 성공이다.
As imitation accumulates, a moment of creativity emerges. However,
imitation alone cannot be sufficient. For imitation to not simply remain imitation,
there must be some kind of connection. Imitation, connection, and creation
must be woven together. Imitation of previous experiences, connection to my
own problems, and the repeated deepening of these imitations and
connections give rise to new creations.
모방을 축적하다 보면 한 순간, 창조의 한 방이 나온다. 그러나 모방에만
머물러서는 안 된다. 모방이 모방으로 끝나지 않으려면 어떠한 연결이 있어야
한다. 모방과 연결과 창조가 한통속으로 엮여야 하는 것이다. 이전 것들의 모방,
내 문제와의 연결, 그리고 이런 모방과 연결의 반복적인 심화작업이
새로운 창조를 낳는다.
Imitation and connection are the immutable formulas that make individuals,
businesses, and nations creative. Creation isn't difficult. Imitation is creation.
Creators always imitate. Imitate, connect, and create. Then, even ordinary
people will become masters of creation, transcending their own boundaries
and making the world a more wonderful and beautiful place.

모방과 연결은 개인과 기업, 국가를 모두 창조적으로 만드는 불변의 공식이다.
